Panoramic Portrait

Today's class featured a demonstration/practical about a Panoramic stitch portrait. We first went into the main gallery space of the college to shoot images which we could then use in Photoshop later to create the portrait.

These are the files that I had shot in the gallery. After setting the camera in place on a tripod I then shot 5 separate images starting from left to right by panning the head of the tripod. For this image a flash was fired through the softbox on only the frames that included the model, creating more of a focus on her.

After opening the Raw files into photoshop I think clicked File > Automate > Photomerge, this was used to merge the images together into a panorama based on edges within the frames. For this image I used the Auto setting.

In the final merged image photoshop in auto mode has done a good job in lining up all the frames correctly. I liked the overall effect of the panorama portrait and how it can be used to capture more of a background in an image and how with the use of flash in only one frame more attention is drawn to the subject.
